A Nurses Guide to Looking Good in Uniform
Your appearance can have an effect on the people that surrounds you. If you are a nurse, it is important to gain your patientís trust. This is not an easy task because some patients are suspicious and have the tendency to question your competence. Patients judge you based on their first impression. This is the reason why you want to make a good impression every time you care for a patient.
Making a good impression is not easy especially when you are a nurse. The stress of the job and the sleepless nights can take its toll on you. However, this is not an excuse to look shabby in your uniform or scrubs.
Here are some tips to help you make a good impression by looking good in your uniform.
1. Keep your hair out of your face. If you have a long hair, it is best that you tie it to a ponytail. Tying your hair keeps it out of your face and it makes you look neat. Being neat makes you look good in your uniform.
2. Do not look pale. Your patients are already pale and sickly, do not try and look like them. If you are natural pale the best thing you can do is apply a light make up. A light make up can make you look more alive and refreshing.
3. Do not wear ill-fitting scrubs. Scrubs are standard uniforms for nurses but that does not mean you should wear scrubs that are two sizes bigger. Remember to make a good impression you have to look good and you will not look good if you look like a potato in a sack with your scrubs. When buying your uniform, buy one that fits you well.
Make your patients feel comfortable by making a good impression. Moreover, if you look good and presentable in your uniform your patients will trust you easily. It is easier to establish rapport when you look good and act professionally.
